Mission Statement - The primary purpose of
publishing Practice Guidelines, Mini-Guidelines and Position Papers is to
help the veterinary community provide uniform and optimal care for feline
patients, to educate cat owners about optimum medical care for cats, and
to prevent needless deaths and suffering from mismanagement. We strive to
provide the profession and the public with comprehensive and useful
summaries of all current information on specific feline health topics of
wide interest and applicability. Secondarily, we hope to establish the
AAFP as the leader in feline medicine, and to increase membership.

Dr. Julie Dinnage
Dr. Chantal Mullins
Dr. Margie Scherk
Dr. Jane E. Brunt
Dr. Matthew Sturmer
|
Mission Statement - To develop a program of
continuing education that appeals to the general membership as well as
providing higher level, cutting edge sessions for those members that look
to AAFP to provide a quality of feline only CE that is not available
elsewhere. Due to the broad scope of interests in the membership it is
thought that the fall meeting will be best served to appeal to a broad
range of members with clinically relevant material that has a high
potential for “take home information” and to target the higher end,
research-focus information to the smaller group that generally attends the
spring meeting.
|
|
Public
Relations/Membership |
|
|
|
Mission Statement - To communicate the value of
membership to both existing members and prospects and to promote the AAFP
as the leader in feline health care issues.
|
|
Research |
|
|
|
Mission Statement - Since 1994 the AAFP has
presented an annual research award to a person doing meaningful research
in feline medicine or surgery. The award has grown from $2,000 in 1994 to
$15,000 in 2004. The award is given for research with the most clinical
application. The AAFP research committee's main function is to decide on
the annual research recipient.
|
|
Student
Chapter |
|
|
|
Mission Statement - To establish and maintain
continuity between student feline medicine chapters and AAFP, to encourage
students to become active in organized feline medicine, make their AAFP
membership a valued part of their veterinary career and identify new
leaders from within these chapters and encourage their participation in
AAFP.
