NCVEI Website Registration Instructions

1. Log onto the internet and enter the NCVEI's website address: http://www.ncvei.org

2. Once on the NCVEI home page, click on the "Exam Room" tab at the top of the page or the "Exam Room" box in the middle of the page. Clicking either of these two locations takes you to the next page.

3. On the next screen, click on "First Time Visitor". (You will only need to select "First Time Visitor" to set up your personal profile during your first visit to the Exam Room. On future visits you will select "Returning User".)

4. You will now see a page called "Rules of the Road". Please take a moment to read this information. As you read, scroll down the page and you'll see a box with the word "Next". Click "Next".

5. The next page lists the information you will need to set up your user profile. When you have read the page, click "Let's go".

6. There are three steps to setting up your personal profile:

Step One

· Enter a User Name that you will use each time you use the NCVEI tools. Your User Name must contain at least six characters.
· Enter a Password that contains at least six characters
·
Re-enter the same Password to confirm that it was entered correctly.

Step Two

· Enter your last name
·
Enter your first name
·
Enter either your AVMA or AAHA ID number

You can get your AVMA number from your membership card or the shipping label from JAVMA Magazine. The ID number on the JAVMA label is the number between the red arrows.

Your AAHA ID number can be found on a Trends mailing label, an AAHA invoice or packing slip, or a confirmation letter for an AAHA meeting.

Step Three

Step three involves answering a series of questions on your veterinary practice, including the address,  the type of practice you own, the year your practice was established and the number of veterinarians who work at your clinic. You will need to answer all of these questions. When you are finished, click "Submit Completed Login" and you will receive a message indicating that you have successfully set up your user profile. There will also be a cartoon of a dog on the screen. If you want to proceed to the tools, click on "Let's Go To The Tools" that can be found just below the dog.

7. Once you have set up your user profile you will be able to access the Pricing and Benchmarking tools. On the Tool List home page there is a chart outlining the NCVEI tools. The first column has a cartoon drawing that gives an indication of the objective of the tool. Once you have completed a tool, the cartoon is replaced with a statement indicting you have completed that tool, but that you may return and edit your data at any time. The second column of the chart contains the name and description of the tool. The third column links to a checklist that lists the information you will need to complete the tool. These checklists can be printed so that you can gather your data prior to filling out the online questions. The final column of the chart is a Time Tracker that simply indicates how many steps are involved in completing each tool. To access any of the tools, simply click on the underlined name of the tool that appears in the second column.
