August 2007 Here's what the AAFP has for you this month!

The American Association of Feline Practitioners improves the health and well-being of cats by supporting high standards of practice, continuing education, and scientific investigation.

Join us for AAFP ROUNDS on VIN

This rounds discussion will focus on difficulties in diagnosing FIP. This disease, caused by a common virus, can be a challenge to confirm ante mortem, especially the noneffusive or dry form. Dr. Kennedy will cover the various diagnostic tests available to assist diagnosis, including their benefits and pitfalls. In particular, she will concentrate on the feline coronavirus-specific assays, such as serology and virus detection.

  • ( TBA ) Polyuric Acute Renal Failure in the Cat Predisposed by Recalled Diets Exposure: Case-based rounds! (Jerry Thornhill, DVM, DACVIM)
  • Sunday, September 9, 8pm ET: Clomipramine and cats (Dr. Chantal Lainesse, DVM, MSc, PhD, DACVCP)
  • Sunday, September 30, 8pm ET: AAFP Student Chapters Meet & Greet (AAFP Students, Student Committee members, Regional Directors, Practice Mentors and Faculty Advisors)

Compare your diagnostic and treatment protocols for a renal insufficient hyperthyroid cat with Dr. Lapointe and your fellow AAFP members. Share your thoughts (and questions) on the rounds message board here:
