in 2007 for meaningful research in feline medicine and/or
surgery. The $15,000 award will be given to the researcher whose
application shows the most clinical
merit.
Grant application instructions,
including the criteria for grant selection, and a time line for the

reporting process are available on the AAFP website here:

CALL FOR AAFP BOARD NOMINATIONS
The Nominations Task Force of the
Leadership Development Committee is seeking nominations for
board positions available in 2007. Four Director positions and the
position of President-Elect are open
for election. These terms will begin on January 1, 2008. Directors
serve a two-year term; the President-
Elect serves one year and then becomes President the following year.
This is your opportunity to help
mold the future of the AAFP!
The minimum requirement for a board
member is at least three years' membership in the AAFP. Involvement
in committees, attendance at AAFP meetings, and ability to work as a
team player will also be considered
by the Nominations Task Force when submitting its recommended slate of
nominees to the Board for
consideration.
Interested individuals should contact
the AAFP office for a copy of the Biographical/Qualifications form,
which
must be completed and returned to the AAFP office no later
than April 1, 2007. Please contact
info@aafponline.org or 1-800-874-0498 for further information.
2007 AVMA
LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
The AVMA Leadership Conference will be
held in Chicago from January 5-7, 2007. The AAFP Leadership
Development committee has recently selected Dr. Glenn Olah from Santa
Fe, NM to be its recent graduate representative to the Conference.
AAFP's 2007 President, Dr. Margie Scherk and House of Delegate|
members, Drs. Vicki Thayer and Steve Dullard, will join Dr. Olah at
the conference. AAFP Executive Director,
Rick Alampi, will also be in attendance.
Due to the generosity of Bayer
sponsorship, AAFP has been able to send a recent graduate member to
the
past several AVMA Leadership Conferences. This individual gets to
watch how the AVMA House of Delegates functions and participate in
educational workshops. This year, the workshops focus on the areas of
membership and public relations. Dr. Olah is a member of the AAFP
committee that deals with these issues,
and the information he receives can be of benefit to the organization.
If you have been a member of AAFP for 6
years or less, please consider sending in a letter and resume to the
Executive Office in the fall of 2007 to be considered for the 2008
AVMA Leadership Conference.

residue control, and on quality assurance for products of food animal
